Bridging The Gap Between Language and Healthcare
Asian Health Equity Initiative is a nonprofit committed to advancing health equity in Seattle's Chinatown International District (CID). Our mission involves identifying and addressing health service gaps collaboratively. We focus on breaking down language barriers, improving access to medical resources, and supporting the diverse needs of CID residents, particularly those aged over 65 living in low-income housing. Through awareness, access, and advocacy, we strive to empower and create a healthier, more inclusive community in the CID.
What is Our Why?
We recognize the unique challenges faced by our community, where language barriers, economic hardships, and systemic inequalities often intersect to create formidable obstacles to healthcare access. Our efforts are vital because they directly impact the well-being and dignity of our elders. By raising awareness, advocating for change, and implementing community-driven solutions, we're not just addressing healthcare gaps – we're empowering our elders to live healthier, more fulfilling lives. Every initiative we undertake is a step towards building a more equitable healthcare system that values accessibility, inclusivity, and respect for all members of our community.
